Huangshan, 30 March 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi held a bilateral meeting.
The meeting was held in Tunxi District, Huangshan, China, today. Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi is visiting China to participate in the Third Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Neighbouring Countries of Afghanistan.

The two counterparts exchanged views on bilateral strategic, economic, and security cooperation. In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic, peace, stability, and development in Afghanistan along with regional and global issues of mutual interest were discussed.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Qureshi enunciated that China-Pakistan relations were the bedrock of the foreign policy of Pakistan. Along these lines, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to further boost the “Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.”
He underscored Pakistan’s firm adherence to the “One-China” Policy as well as continuous support on matters pertaining to the core interests of China.
Foreign Minister Qureshi appreciated the consistent support of china for Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, socio-economic development, and political stability.
Reflecting on the recent exchanges between the two sides, Foreign Minister Qureshi communicated satisfaction with the upward trajectory of Pakistan-China ties.
The high-level exchanges between China and Pakistan include the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s visit to China in February 2022 for the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
In the same vein, State Councilor, Wang Yi also visited Islamabad to attend the 48th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting as a Special Guest.
Furthermore, Shah Mahmood Qureshi also accentuated that the leaders’ concurrence was resulting in the high-quality development of CPEC Phase-II.
Consequently, cooperation in diverse areas like industrial development, agricultural modernization, and information technology is burgeoning.
The Foreign Minister also thanked China for hosting the summit on Afghanistan. Concurrently, he stressed deeper engagement between Pakistan and China, as well as Afghanistan’s other neighbors.
To promote stability, peace, and development in the country, regional connectivity through the extension of CPEC to Afghanistan is paramount. The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine.
The Foreign Minister of Pakistan also emphasized Pakistan’s position and readiness to help facilitate a diplomatic solution including through the OIC platform. He called for the immediate termination of hostility and continued efforts for a solution via dialogue.
He also accentuated the provision of humanitarian assistance in Ukraine. The Foreign Minister is accompanied by the Foreign Secretary and Pakistan’s Special Representative on Afghanistan.
