Dushanbe, 16 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood meets Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia today, on 16th September, on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2021.
Both the dignitaries exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation in defence, trade, investment, and people-to-people contacts. They also showed commitment toward cooperation at regional and multilateral platforms.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood underscored that trade and investment relations are important. Pakistan is looking forward Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade and Investment that is to be held in Russia in November this year. He also said that the government of Pakistan is committed to complete Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline Project as soon as possible. He also applauded Russia for showing commitment to increase the number of scholarships for Pakistani students.
Regarding the Afghanistan issue, Shah Mahmood emphasized the proactive engagement of the international community in Afghanistan, and the need for humanitarian assistance to provide the Afghan people with food, medicines, and other essential supplies.
