Kuala Lumpur, 14 April 2023 (TDI): The Foreign minister of Malaysia, Dr. Zambry Kadir, received a courtesy call from the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Ukraine in Kuala Lumpur, Mr. Mykhailiuk Denys on April 13, 2023.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in a fruitful discussion regarding the existing cooperation between Malaysia and Ukraine, especially in the areas of trade, education, and agriculture.
The Foreign Minister of Malaysia and the Ukrainian envoy exchanged views on the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. Dr. Zambry Kadir reiterated Malaysia’s stance of supporting a peaceful solution based on international law and the UN Charter.
The meeting began with a discussion on the current state of bilateral trade between Malaysia and Ukraine.
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Ukraine highlighted the importance of expanding trade relations and increasing trade volume between the two countries.

Dr. Zambry Kadir agreed with the importance of expanding economic cooperation between Malaysia and Ukraine and proposed exploring new areas of cooperation in the trade sector.
The officials also discussed the potential for increased cooperation in the field of education.
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Ukraine expressed their desire to enhance the academic exchange program between the two countries, which would help students gain a deeper understanding of each other’s culture and values.
Dr. Zambry Kadir welcomed this proposal and noted the significance of educational cooperation between the two countries.
In addition, both sides discussed the potential for cooperation in the field of agriculture.
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Ukraine highlighted Ukraine’s extensive experience and capability in the agricultural sector and proposed exploring opportunities for cooperation in this area.
Dr. Zambry Kadir expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in agriculture, especially in the areas of agricultural technology and expertise exchange.
The meeting proves to be productive and fruitful in strengthening the existing cooperation between Malaysia and Ukraine, particularly in the trade, education, and agriculture sectors.
The discussion laid out various proposals for cooperation, which, if implemented, could lead to significant progress in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
This meeting demonstrated Malaysia’s continued support for Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty and its right to self-determination.
