Bilateral Relations
Kuwait is designated as a non-nato ally of the United States. The US opened its Consulate in Kuwait in 1951, which was elevated to the embassy in 1961, after 10 years.
The United States also spearheaded the UN military force to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi occupation during the Gulf war.
