Singapore, 17 August 2022 (TDI): Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tileuberdi, called on the President of Singapore, Halimah Yacob at the Istana, the Presidential mansion of Singapore.

The Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan is currently on a visit to Singapore from 14-17 August. Mukhtar Tileuberdi is being accompanied by the Governor of Astana International Financial Center, Dr Kairat Kelimbetov, and the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Industry, Kaiyrbek Uskenbayev, and some other senior officials.
During the meeting, the President of Singapore encouraged the companies from Kazakhstan to use Singapore as a hub to engage with Southeast Asia. Moreover, the President also noted next year’s 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Singapore.
Other meetings of Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Tileuberdi had separate meetings with Singapore’s Minister of Finance, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Foreign Minister Tileuberdi also held a meeting with Singapore’s Minister of Manpower, Dr Tan See Leng and the Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong.
In the meeting with the Minister of Finance of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, both sides discussed trade and investment prospects. Moreover, both sides discussed progress in negotiations on the Services and Investment agreement under the Eurasian Economic Union – Singapore Free Trade Agreement.
The services and Investment agreement aims at further boosting economic links between Singapore and Kazakhstan.
During the meeting with the Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Singapore noted the potential for further growth in bilateral relations. Additionally, both sides discussed ways to promote bilateral cooperation and explore opportunities in Southeast and Central Asia, including supply-chain connectivity.
Discussions between the two Foreign Ministers also comprised global and regional developments. Furthermore, both sides stressed the significance of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political independence of all countries.
In the meeting with the Minister of Manpower of Singapore, both sides exchanged views on opportunities in enhancing commercial ties. Moreover, Kazakhstan and Singapore also lauded successful economic ventures in different areas. These include urban planning, logistics, digital innovation, and some others.
