Tehran, 1 July 2022 (TDI): The Iranian foreign minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, praised Qatar for hosting the Doha talks. The top diplomat stated that Iran had evaluated the Doha negotiations in a favorable manner.
Amir Abdollahian made the comments in a phone call with his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
During the phone call chat, Iran’s foreign minister stressed that his country is committed to forging a solid and long-lasting accord. He also emphasized that if the United States is reasonable, a deal will be possible.
In addition, the Foreign Minister of Iran stated that the country is always on the initiative. He also emphasized how eager Iran is to reach an amicable arrangement.
In light of this, Amir Abdollahian reaffirmed Iran’s resolve to carry on with the talks until parties reach a realistic compromise.
According to bin Jassim Al Thani, the bargaining process was fruitful and constructive. Indirect trilateral negotiations took place in the round’s host nation of Qatar (Iran-EU-US).
Equally important, Qatar’s diplomat stated that his country will make every effort to continue hosting the negotiations until Iran receives the outcomes it seeks.
He added that alks will go on until leaders and countries honor their promises, according to Qatar’s diplomat.
Iran-EU-US Doha talks
The Doha talks on lifting sanctions on Iran lasted two days from the beginning. The parties exchanged opinions and suggestions on the remaining issues.
This was as a result of the extensive consultation that took place on Tuesday and Wednesday. The meeting covered opposing side of Iran’s own thoughts.
The primary goal of the covert negotiations was an effort to restart and revitalize protracted negotiations about a return to the 2015 agreement between Iran and major powers, which the European Union mediated.
Although the two-day Doha talks ended, the EU’s deputy top diplomat for foreign policy remarked that, “We will keep working with even greater urgency to bring back on track a key deal for non-proliferation and regional stability.”
Moreover, the foreign ministry spokesman also discussed his views on the Doha negotiations. He said that Bagheri and Mora will talk about moving forward with this. This will be covered in following phase of the negotiations.
