Vienna, 22 September 2021 (TDI): Alexander Schallenberg, the Foreign Minister (FM) of Austria met with Najla El Mangoush, the Libyan FM amid the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The Austrian FM shared his concerns about the recent developments in Libya. He urged for the respect of the Libyan constitution and legal framework.

He further stated that the stability of Libya is crucial for a stable Europe. For this purpose, Austria is willing to help in reconstructing Libyan society especially in border management and economic development. The political system of Libya will also be the priority of Austria for the rebuilding process.
Since the civil war started in Libya, it became a major station for illegal migration to Europe. It also became a hub of extremists who are a potential threat to the security of Europe. Thus, unstable Libya can lead to the instability of the region which can also affect the peace of Europe.
