Foreign Diplomats congratulated Pakistan on reaching T20 WC final

Islamabad, 10 November 2022 (TDI): After winning over New Zealand, Pakistan reached the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup; the Pakistani Cricket team will confront England in the finals.

Pakistan confronted New Zealand on November 9, 2022, at the Sydney Cricket Stadium, Australia. The Shaheens won by seven wickets.

Pakistan won with an incredible performance in which Shaheen Afridi started the bowling and took the wicket of fin Allen in the first over; on the other side, the openers, Babar Azam and M. Rizwan, started batting with a boundary.

On the excellent performance, the game’s victor received wishes from diplomats of various countries for its landslide victory. On this wonderful victory, the diplomats of different countries congratulated Pakistan.

Among those who wished Pakistan, diplomats from AzerbaijanChina, the Netherlands, the European Union, Sweden, the UK, the US, Saudi Arabia, Italy, the Czech Republic, Turkey, and France are included.

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Pakistan, Christian Turner, appreciated the Pakistani cricket team’s performance in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, especially on Iqbal day. He questioned whether his country’s cricket team would reach the finals and repeat the events of 1992.

Stefano Pontecorvo, the former Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, retweeted Pakistan’s Cricket team’s Captain’s tweet and congratulated the Team of Pakistan for winning while giving confidence to the team. Stefano remained the ambassador of Rome in Islamabad until the 9th of February 2020.

Although Mustafa Yurdakul was formerly an ambassador to Pakistan, he continues to have ties with the Pakistani nation. He congratulated Pakistan on reaching the semifinals and asked surprisingly, “honestly, how did this happen?!”

On November 9, he congratulated Green Shirts and compared the thrill of witnessing the T20 World Cup to that of the FIFA World Cup, calling their victory a “Class Act.”

The Netherlands Embassy in Pakistan extended felicitations to the Green team on their victory. The former Dutch ambassador to Pakistan, Wouter Plomp, who is presently serving in Nigeria, also wished his Pakistani friends.

The Dutch Embassy expressed gratitude to both Pakistan and the Netherlands cricket team for Pakistan’s inclusion in the semifinals and victory over South Africa.

The Ambassador of the EU to Islamabad wore Pakistan’s jersey to watch the match. After the game, she tweeted that she was lucky to have Pakistan Team’s jersey. She is going to wear it in the finals.
The Twitter account of the Europen Union’s Delegation to Pakistan commented, “Fantastic game today! Pakistan Cricket Team, Congratulations and all the best for finals!”

Elchin Mehdiyev, a young diplomat from Azerbaijan, and Khazar Farhadov, the country’s ambassador to Pakistan, also congratulated the country on its magnificent victory by Green Shirts and qualification for the final.

Moreover, the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Islamabad, Nawaf bin Saeed, wrote a note in Urdu in which he extended felicitations to the Pakistani nation on an incredible performance by Shaheens and wished them good luck in the final match of the ICC T20 World Cup.

The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad conveyed wishes to Pakistani brothers for reaching the T20 world championship final while sharing some joyful pictures of Pakistani students.

The US Embassy in Islamabad tweeted, “Amazing Green Shirts! Congratulations on your great victory over New Zealand in the T20 World Cup semifinal! The Melbourne match is currently the focus of attention (with the slogan Long live Pakistan).”

The Italian embassy in Islamabad praised Pakistan and remarked, “What a brilliant performance by Green Shirts!”. At the same time, they sent their good wishes to the Pakistan Cricket team for the final match.

The Czech Embassy in Pakistan congratulated the nation differently. The tweet says, If only the Czechs understood what a victory by seven wickets meant. Ice hockey is more of their game than cricket.

Furthermore, the Turkish Embassy in Pakistan also congratulated Pakistani for reaching the final of the T20 World Cup after winning over New Zealand.

The embassy of Sweden in Islamabad wrote a multi-lingual note of felicitation for Pakistanis.

The embassy of France in Pakistan also congratulated the country in french language. The post translates as, “Congratulations to Pakistan for the victory, which allows the team to qualify for the final of the T20 World Cup.”
