Foreign Diplomats congratulated Pakistan on its victory over New Zealand

Sharjah, 27 October 2021 (TDI): Pakistan won from New Zealand on Tuesday, 26 October 2021 in the match of the T20 World Cup. On its win, Pakistan received wishes from foreign ambassadors.

The diplomats and embassies from different countries took part in celebrating Pakistan’s win. The countries include Belgium, China, European Union, Germany, Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The Pakistani nation was not only congratulated but also given an online contest by an ambassador. Mustafa Yurdakul, Turkish Ambassador in Islamabad posted pictures of Turkish flags and Turkish Sports’ banner. He called it a warm-up activity before the match and announced that he will give away the banners if Pakistan will win from New Zealand.

The next day, the Turkish Ambassador chose a winner. He said that he selected the person on the 135 number because Pakistan won with that score. Whole heart wishes from the ambassador of Pakistan’s all-weather friend also reached to the nation and team.
On 26 October 2021, Ambassador Nong Rong, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan congratulated and wished luck to the nation and team on the surprising performance of Pakistan.

Other than him, Stefano Pontecorvo, the NATO Senior Civilian Representative to Afghanistan and former ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, encouraged Pakistan to maintain the same performance. He tweeted that Pakistan proved itself once again.

Moreover, Androulla Kaminara, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Pakistan tweeted, “Wow, Another great win for Pakistan. COngratulations again- Keep winning”. EU to Pakistan also joined in and complimented that it was “a strong start to the tournament”
Thomas Drew, Director-General in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and former British High Commissioner to Pakistan also took part to congratulate Pakistan. He called Pakistan’s second victory impressive.

Martin Kobler, who served as a German Ambassador to Pakistan, not only congratulated the team but also encouraged others to congratulate the Pakistani team with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.

Another ambassador to wish Pakistan was Kjell-Gunnar Eriksen. He is Norway’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and former ambassador of Norway to Pakistan. The Embassy of Belgium in Islamabad also took Twitter to contribute to the wishes for Pakistan on its another win. 

The Official Twitter of U.S. Embassy Islamabad and U.S. Consulate General Peshawar also admired the Pakistani team. U.S. Consulate General Peshawar said, “Loving those winning selfies, Shabash Team Pakistan!”
Another foreign diplomat, Netherlands Ambassador to Pakistan Wouter Plomp also expressed his views on Twitter. He said that cricket is entertaining and he is learning the rules of the game. 

Before this, Pakistan has received the wishes from foreign diplomats on its landslide victory over India also.
