Nur Sultan, 20 August 2021 (TDI): Mukhtar Tleuberdy, the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan held a meeting with Terhi Hakala, the EU Representative for Central Asia, who visited Kazakhstan today.
During the meeting, the priorities of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy were put forward. FM Mukhtar discussed the implementation of political reforms given by the President of Kazakhstan. The EU Representative expressed her support and cooperation with Kazakhstan. It was also agreed to strengthen EU and Kazakhstan bilateral relations, during the meeting.
The current situation of Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover was also emphasized in the meeting. Both sides decided to help through joint measures to achieve stability in Afghanistan. They also agreed that the agreements in EU-Kazakhstan Cooperation Council must be implemented. It was noted to reinforce the Extended Strategic Partnership Agreement between Kazakhstan and the EU.
At the end of the meeting, both sides considered it significant to exchange visits and enhance contacts with each other to strengthen relations between the countries.
