Moscow, 20 August 2021 (TDI): Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of Russia, met with Najla Mangoush, the first female foreign minister of Libya.

During the meeting, it was noticed that Russia-Libya relations over the years got deepen. There always have been bilateral cooperation, mutual interest, and sympathy between the two countries. Both countries have strengthened mutual relations at the international level as well.

It was emphasized during the meeting that economic ties need to be strongly reinforced. The economic projects should be resumed that stopped a decade ago due to the NATO offensive invasion that destroyed Libya. Major companies like Tatneft, Russian Railways, and Gazprom Neft would be incorporated to focus on technical, scientific, trade, and economic ties.

Positive steps must be integrated to advance the peace process and the unification of all agencies and state institutions, both sides noted. The implementation of political agreements was also the center of discussion. It was considered significant to increase the foreign minister’s visit and exchange assessments of the Middle East and North Africa conflicts. The cultural, humanitarian, and educational ties should be enhanced.
