Vienna, 14 August 2023 (TDI): The Embassy of Pakistan in Vienna hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony to celebrate the 76th Anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister and hoisted the national flag.
Ambassador Khokher paid tribute to the struggle of Pakistan’s founding fathers. He recalled the nation’s commitment towards realising the vision of Quaid-e-Azam in building Pakistan as a progressive and forward-looking Islamic country.
He highlighted Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in South Asia in addition to upholding the principles of democracy, freedom, equality, tolerance, socio-economic justice and espousing values enunciated by Islam.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s support, in line with UN Resolutions, of the people in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) who are continuing their struggle for their right to self-determination.

Prominent community members and representatives of the Kashmiri diaspora in Austria and Slovakia also participated in the celebrations. They reiterated their commitment to redouble efforts for the continued security, prosperity and development of the country.
The event concluded with prayers for the prosperity and progress of Pakistan.
