Almaty, 31 May 2022 (TDI): A painting exhibition was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on the poetry of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. The exhibition was organized by COMSTECH in collaboration with the International Turkic Academy.
Moreover, the University of the Punjab Lahore and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University also participated in the collaboration.
Calligraphies, graphic prints, and visual metaphors embodied in paintings were displayed in the exhibition named “Sitara-e-Sharq” to illustrate Iqbal’s poetry.
The curators of the exhibition were Dr. Aqsa and Dr. Naela that included the paintings and calligraphy by 15 Artists from the College of Art & Design, University of Punjab.
Some artists explored non-traditional and modern symbols and metaphors to decipher these ideas into a visual manifestation to acknowledge and appreciate the philosophy of the poetry.
Likewise, others explored the physical attribute of the verses by the poet to devise images that eloquently depicted the appreciation of nature and divine love.
The exhibition was organized on the sidelines of “Al-Farabi & Iqbal Forum.” The guests took an eager interest in the exhibit and admired the artwork of Pakistani artists conveying the message of Allama Iqbal in an effective way.
The artworks displayed at the exhibition were brought to Almaty from Pakistan. The participating artists include Ali Azmat, Rahat Naveed Masud, Naela Aamir, and Sumera Jawad.
While other participants include Samina Nasim, Anila Zulfiqar, Muneeb Ali, Aqsa Malik, Habib Alam, Javed Mughal, Habib Alam, Atif Amir, Humera Omer, and Qurat ul Ain Dar.
Coordinator-General COMSTECH; Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, the grandson of Allama Mohammad Iqbal; Senator Walid Iqbal, and the President of the International Turkic Academy attended the event.
In addition, Darkhan Kydyrali; Rector of the Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuymebayev; Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan; and Kuanysh Yergaliev, Secretary-General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev were also in attendance.
Moreover, Deputy Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building in Asia (CICA); Chi Fan, and Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; Yerzhan Kystafin also graced the event.
Lastly, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan; Sajjad Ahmed Seehar, and Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kazakhstan; Ufuk Ekici, also inaugurated the “Sitara-e-Sharq” exhibition.
