Kabul, 15 September 2021 (TDI): In a resolution on Afghanistan, the EU invited Ahmed Massoud (Afghani Resistance Leader). This invite was to attend a meeting of the European Parliament and Council.
The invitation aimed to reduce the security threats in the region. Moreover, forming peaceful and diplomatic solutions to counter such threats. EU pledged to provide 5 million euros as humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. The resolution mentioned that the EU must take the necessary lessons from this collective failure
According to it, the Afghan situation is a tragedy for the Afghan people first and foremost. However, it also puts the EU’s security in danger. The lack of a credible withdrawal strategy has accelerated the collapse of the Afghan army and the Taliban’s success. This exacerbated the humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan.
