The EU firmly reiterates its longstanding opposition to Israel’s settlement policy and calls on Israel to reconsider and refrain from proceeding with these plans.
The EU underscores the illegality of settlements under international law, emphasizing that they not only pose an obstacle to peace but also threaten the viability of the two-state solution.

Furthermore, the EU expresses deep concern about the changes made by the Israeli government on June 18 to the settlements’ planning and administration process, which are expected to expedite the planning and approval of new settlements. These unilateral steps undermine efforts to maintain calm and defuse tensions on the ground.
The European Union remains steadfast in its support for the Aqaba and Sharm El Sheikh communique, which emphasizes the importance of de-escalation and the pursuit of a political horizon.
The EU calls on all parties involved to recommit themselves to these principles, working towards a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The EU’s statement reflects its unwavering commitment to upholding international law, respecting human rights, and promoting a just and lasting peace between Israel and Palestine.
Moreover, it highlights the urgent need for all parties to exercise restraint, avoid actions that further exacerbate tensions, and engage in constructive dialogue toward a negotiated settlement.
The EU stands ready to support efforts aimed at de-escalation and the resumption of meaningful peace negotiations, with the ultimate goal of achieving a two-state solution where Israel and Palestine can coexist in peace and security.
