Adelaide, 10 November 2022 (TDI): England won the semi-final against India and qualified for the T20 Finals at the Adelaide Oval. This was the second semifinal of the tournament.
The first Semi-Final was won by Team Pakistan against New Zealand yesterday at Sydney Cricket Ground. The match started at 1 PM on Pakistan Standard Time.
Match Highlights
England played under the captaincy of Jos Buttler while Rohit Sharma served as the Indian team captain. The coin flip favored Jos Buttler, who chose to bowl first against team India.
In the first innings, the Indian cricket team set a good target of 169 at 5 wickets. A total score of 168 was not expected as the innings started slow.
The openers of the Indian team did not perform well, but the great partnership of Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya helped the team to set a good target.
Moving on to the 18th over, Kohli got out just after completing his half-century. But Pandya carried on the match whose brilliant five sixes added a great score to India’s target.
The second innings starting with the openers of England, Jos Buttler, and Alex Hales marked a win for the team. Together both chased the target with a brilliant partnership of 170 runs without giving any wickets.
Hales finished with 86 off 47 balls, while Buttler finished with 80 off 49 balls. Right from the beginning of the match, England had a firm grip on it. The winning short was a great sixer which made England qualify for the Final with a total score of 170/0.
Now, team England will play against team Pakistan in the final match, on Sunday. The match will start at 1 PM on Pakistan Standard Time at Melbourne Cricket Ground. It is noteworthy that both teams played in the final before in 1992 which team Pakistan won.
