Engagements of OIC Envoy on Kashmir in Pakistan

Ambassador Yousef Aldobeay, the OIC’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, visited Pakistan and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir from November 7 to 12, 2021.

Muzaffarabad, 13 November 2021 (TDI): Ambassador Yousef Aldobeay, the OIC’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, visited Pakistan and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir from November 7 to 12, 2021. The Special Envoy was accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes the OIC’s Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Ambassador Tarig Bakhit, and other senior officials.

He had wide-range engagements in Pakistan.

Visit to Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir

OIC Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, Yousef Aldobeay and Assistant Secretary General Humanitarian Affairs, Tariq Ali Bakheet visited Muzaffarabad along with a high level delegation including senior diplomats from brotherly countries including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Sudan and Maldives.

The delegation was briefed on extensive steps taken for the socio-economic well-being of the people who fled Indian atrocities in Jammu and Kashmir at Thotha Refugee Camp.

The delegates also paid a visit to a vocational training centre where they engaged with refugees.

The party then met with the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), where they were briefed on the security monitoring system along the Line of Control.

The delegation also met with the President and Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir during their visit.

Meeting with the Prime Minister Pakistan

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan held a meeting with Yousef Aldoubeay, the OIC’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, in Islamabad on Monday, 8 November.

Meeting with the Foreign Minister Pakistan

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi met Special Envoy for Jammu & Kashmir, Yousef Aldoubeay. They discussed grave humanitarian situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the OIC special envoy said his visit is aimed at observing ground reality of humanitarian issues in IIOJ&K. Thee final report will be presented to the OIC’s Foreign Minister’s meeting to be held in March next year.

Meeting with the Federal Minister for Human Rights

Shireen Mazari, Minister of Human Rights, met with an OIC team to discuss Indian human rights violations in Jammu Kashmir. Ambassador Yousef Aldobeay, the OIC’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, is visiting Pakistan and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Meeting with the Foreign Secretary

In Islamabad on Monday, 9th November, he spoke with Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood.

Meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir

Shehryar Khan Afridi, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir met Yousef Aldoubeay, the OIC special representative for Jammu and Kashmir. He was chairing a special meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir which includes members from both Houses of Parliament and all political parties.
