Even though the 18-year-old Chinese freestyle skier must be feeling a lot of pressure, what with being a representative of the host country, she still performed an astounding feat to make history.
“That was the best moment of my life” after nabbing the gold at the Freeski Big Air. Besides, she stated that she was “very happy to have the home crowd backing her.”
Chinese Newspapers are complimenting Eileen Gu and have anointed her as a “hexagonal all-around warrior”. Likewise, her victory is being called of “great significance” since it was the first by a Chinese woman at the Winter Olympics, in a snow event.

Eileen Gu is a US-born Chinese athlete. She finished her high school course a year early and was enrolled at Stanford University. She is also hugely favored by the fashion industry.
The freestyle skier is an apposite representation of sports spirit. Xiao Yewen, the Deputy Consul General of China in Auckland shared on his Twitter that the athlete was an example of the development of close China-US exchanges.
