Egypt and Austria Hold Bilateral Consultations Session.

Cairo, 4 July 2022 (TDI): A bilateral consultation session between the Foreign Ministers of Egypt and Austria took place on Sunday.

The Foreign Minister of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry warmly received the Foreign Minister of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Egypt witnessed the bilateral consultation session for bolstering relations between Egypt and Austria.

The session included bilateral talks and discussions to improve cooperation between the two countries.

In-depth talks were carried out to strengthen bilateral relations and increase cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

An introduction to the Egypt-Austria bilateral consultation session

The consultation session focused on promoting bilateral cooperation in the political sector as well as the economic sector between Egypt and Austria.

Representatives from both sides thoroughly talked through trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. The issues of regional development were also discussed.

Meanwhile, the session discussed international and regional issues of common interest as well.

Among other topics of discussion, one central topic during the session was the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine. Both sides agreed in the session that the war in Ukraine is not a local phenomenon but a global one.

The shockwaves of this war are flying across the world. This has led to rising social and economic issues in many countries including, Egypt.

Thus, the two countries discussed the turmoil caused by the war in Ukraine and its impact on the world.

Moreover, both Foreign Ministers also covered the issue of rising food prices in Egypt. Furthermore, the session also revised the discussion held earlier in Cairo between the Foreign Minister of Austria and the World Food Program (WFP), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and International Organization For Migration (IOM).

Austria’s Foreign Minister also met with Egyptian human rights representatives. Both countries discussed the importance of adopting a sound human rights strategy as the first step.

After the consultation session, a press conference was held to discuss the content of the earlier talks.
