Quito, 18 March 2022 (TDI): The Ecuadorian Undersecretary of Sovereignty and Neighborhood Relations, Augusto Saa held a meeting with representatives of various State Departments to discuss relations with Peru and to review priority issues of the bilateral relationship with Peru.

This meeting was held as a part of preparations for an upcoming presidential meeting between the President of Peru, Pedro Castillo, and the President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso.
The official Twitter account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility posted that the Undersecretary of Sovereignty and Neighborhood Relations held a meeting with representatives of several State Portfolios.
This is within the framework of the next Presidential Meeting with the neighboring country. Previously, both Presidents met on Thursday, 10th March in Santiago, Chile.
They discussed issues of bilateral relations and reviewed progress on bilateral agreements reached during the last binational cabinet and regional integration in social and environmental spheres through the Andean Community.
Later, the Peruvian President also met the Peruvian diaspora living in Chile to discuss ways to support and assist Peruvian citizens living in Chile. Since 2007, Ecuador and Peru hold yearly presidential meetings and binational cabinets to strengthen regional integration.
The meetings also review bilateral relations with hosts alternating between Peru and Ecuador. Both nations are part of the Andean Community, an intergovernmental trade bloc that aims to form a customs union in several South American countries.
Ecuador and Peruv enjoy cordial bilateral relations. Both countries are South American states. Both nations are members of the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States, the Organization of American States, the Organization of Ibero-American States, and the United Nations.
