Islamabad (TDI): Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Monday approved seven development projects costing around rupees 217 billion for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh Provinces.
The meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Federal Minister for Planning, Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Provincial Ministers and Federal Secretaries also attended the meeting.
It approved the increase in scope of Irrigation component of Sindh Emergency Flood Rehabilitation Project and the revision of scope for CAREC Corridor road infrastructure project falling in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

It also approved the revised scope of Karachi Water Supply and Severage Improvement Project at cost of Rs 25.4 billion besides approving the World Bank funded project GRADES with aim to improve attendance and learning outcomes in schools of Punjab.
ECNEC and CDWP
In view of the financial challenges that Pakistan is facing a significant reduction in PSDP has been observed in the last one decade.
Nevertheless, a report, recently surfaced, said that 15 development projects were approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) earlier which are said to be worth Rs422 billion.

And 6 out of the 15 were directly approved by CDWP while the remaining 9 were referred to Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for approval consideration.
The 6 projects directly approved by CDWP are said to be worth 17.95 billion rupees.
The projects include plans for health, agriculture, environment, manpower, governance, water resources, transport & communication and science & technology.
