Deputy Secretary-General UN visits Somalia

Mogadishu, 13 September 2021 (TDI): 12th-September 2021, UN Deputy Secretary-General visited Somalia.

Amina J Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, had several meetings during her visit. The main agenda of the visit was to ensure women’s equal participation in the Political arena.

Presently, Somalia is holding elections for its Upper House. On the other hand, it is also preparing for elections for its House of the People.

United Nations Deputy Chief Amina J. Mohammed, on her visit, expressed her unanimity with Somalian women.

The occasion of parliamentary elections the UN Deputy Chief addressed as the opportunity for women participation. She narrated that the country can use the prospect to ensure women’s inclusion in the political walk of life.

Amina J Mohammed, UN Deputy Chief, also emphasized women’s complete presence in all sectors of society. She advocated that it will contribute to better resilience and stability in Somalia.

During the Visit, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed also called for support of the international community. Their support will ensure the timely, comprehensive, and reliable elections added Amina J Mohammed.
