Dar Meets Russian Leadership, Chinese Premier on the Sidelines of SCO Meeting

Moscow (TDI): At the 24th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Moscow, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, had a series of meetings with the leadership of Russia, China, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.

At the leaders gathering, Dar met with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, alongside other heads of states of SCO member countries. President Putin welcomed the heads and highlighted SCO’s role as a platform for regional connectivity, stability, and mutually beneficial development.

Earlier, DPM/FM Dar held a bilateral discussion with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

Both leaders discussed bilateral ties and expressed satisfaction with their positive trajectory, highlighting the importance of leadership interaction and institutional structures in deepening cooperation.

They also discussed current regional and global trends and reaffirmed commitment to enhancing multilateral coordination, particularly at the United Nations and SCO.

During a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Dar reiterated the strength of the “all-weather” Pakistan–China strategic partnership, discussed progress on bilateral and regional cooperation, particularly under the SCO framework, and commended the Shanghai Spirit for fostering deeper regional coordination.

In an informal discussion on the sidelines, Dar also met with Sheik Mohammad Al Thani – Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Adylbek Kasymaliev – Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan, and the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov.

The leaders exchanged views on strengthening bilateral ties, enhancing regional cooperation, and advancing key SCO initiatives in these interactions.

In his address at the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting, Dar called for greater economic integration and broader cooperation among SCO member states.

He emphasized the need for the organization to evolve to tackle global and regional challenges by enhancing economic ties and expanding partnerships with observer and partner countries.
