Dar, German FM Discuss Regional and Global Issues

Islamabad (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Tuesday evening.

Both sides appreciated the positive momentum in Pakistan–Germany relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening bilateral cooperation.

They held a detailed exchange of views on regional and global developments, agreeing to maintain close dialogue for promoting mutual understanding and advancing collaboration in areas of shared interest.

The two foreign ministers also expressed their intent to meet on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session next week.

Germany is one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners within the European Union, with bilateral trade crossing the €3 billion mark in recent years.

Pakistan exports textiles, leather goods, and sportswear to Germany, while importing industrial machinery, chemicals, and high-tech equipment.

Beyond trade, Germany has also been a significant development partner for Pakistan, particularly in the fields of renewable energy, vocational training, and infrastructure development.

Berlin has supported projects aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s green transition and sustainable growth.

People-to-people ties also form a strong pillar of the relationship. Thousands of Pakistani students are currently enrolled in German universities, while a vibrant Pakistani diaspora in Germany contributes to cultural exchange and stronger bilateral understanding.
