Washington, 29 September 2021 (TDI): The United States officially designated Croatia as the new participant in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) on Tuesday. The program will grant travel benefits to Croatian citizens, allowing them to visit America without a visa for a stay of up to ninety days.
The US State Secretary Antony J. Blinken, in association with the Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, formally designated Croatia to the United States’ Visa Waiver Program (VWP) on September 28. Both leaders congratulated the Croatian government on the designation, commending their steadfast partnership with the United States, especially through the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Ned Price, the US State Department’s spokesperson, also congratulated Croatia on joining the Visa Waiver Program and lauded the Croatian partners for investing time, effort, and expertise to advance their partnership with the United States.
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) is a security partnership between the United States and designated countries, facilitating international travel to the US for tourism or business purposes without obtaining a visa for up to ninety days, besides protecting national security. The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) will be updated at the start of December 2021 to allow the Croatian citizens to apply for their United States travel for up to 90 days.
