Paris, 15 November 2021 (TDI): President of European Council Charles Michel exchanged views with the President of Egypt, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the regional issues of the Middle East and Africa.
They also had a glance at the political, economic and development relations of the European Union and Egypt.
Egypt shares cordial relations and enjoys good bilateral ties with the European Union therefore considered as an important ally to restore peace and stability in the MENA region. The attendees also discussed the deteriorated conditions of Libya, Syria and Yemen and its spillover effect on Europe.

To restore peace and bring stability to the region, they affirmed the significance of political means. Political means are the only option to settle the crisis in order to secure a better future for the people of Africa and Middle East.
The President of the EU Council and the Egyptian President shared their satisfaction in regard to institutional cooperation and commitment to enhance political dialogue in the light of common challenges and interests. Charles Michel also praised Egypt’s efforts in halting the illegal migrations since 2016.
Furthermore, Michel assured the keenness of the European Union to enhance the friendly relations in all spheres, especially in Education, Health, Trade and Human Rights.
The EU Council President also acknowledged Egypt’s political importance at the regional and international level as it works as a bridge between the Arab and European world.
