Islamabad, 26 November 2021 (TDI): The Coordinator-General of COMSTECH, Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary called on the Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Nong Rong.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss bilateral participation in the field of science and technology in China and Pakistan as well as with the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In the second phase of CPEC, the collaboration between China and Pakistan in agriculture as well as science, and technology; will increase manifolds.
Ambassador Nong Rong expressed strong interest in the promotion and development of traditional Chinese Medicine in Pakistan. Dr. Choudhary on his part welcomed the idea.
The two agreed to launch a joint venture for the development and promotion of traditional Chinese Medicine in collaboration with the institutes of Pakistan.
The Chinese Ambassador also extended felicitations to Dr. Choudhary for wining Mustafa Prize. Dr. Choudhary was awarded the honor by the Mustafa Foundation of Iran, earlier this year.
Guangxi Golden Silkball Friendship Award
During the meeting, Ambassador Nong Rong presented the Guangxi Golden Silkball Friendship Award to the Coordinator-General of COMSTECH.
The award was bestowed upon him on the recommendation of Guangxi Normal University by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang province.
The award for Dr. Choudhary was announced in 2020. It was in recognition of his services for the social and economic development of Guangxi.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary
Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary is an internationally acclaimed medicinal chemist. He has published 76 books and 40 chapters in books published by top European and US press.
Additionally, 1,175 research papers by Dr. Choudhary have been published in international journals; in the fields of bio-organic and organic chemistry. Moreover, he has secured 40 US patents so far.
Aside from the international awards, Dr. Choudhary has been awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. He is D.Sc., Ph.D., and C. Chem and is presently serving as Coordinator-General, COMSTECH and Director, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi.
