Chicago, 29 March 2022 (TDI): The Consul General of Pakistan in Chicago, Tariq Karim graced an event called ‘ Jashn-e-Urdu’, with his presence.
The event was organized by the Urdu Institute. The institute is an entity based in the United States of America. It works for the promotion of the Urdu Language through various means.

There were multiple cultural segments in the recent event called “Jashn-e-Urdu” that the entity organized. Talks were also delivered by eminent guests. Among the talks, the Consul General of Pakistan also took to the podium to deliver his speech.
Tariq Amin underscored that Urdu is among the most widely spoken languages in the world. Not only that but the language is rich when it comes to heritage. The language is deeply embedded in art and culture as well, he further added.
Urdu: National Language of Pakistan
Urdu is a language that is spoken in various parts of the world but mainly in South Asia. To be further precise it is spoken in Pakistan and India largely.
Having said that it is relevant to mention that the language holds the status of being the ‘national language’ of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The language’s history dates back to the 12th century. It has an Indo-Aryan base. It has borrowed words from other languages, just as most languages do, and evolved.
Arabic, Persian, etc. are some languages whose words can be found in Urdu. In a nutshell, it is a rich combination of words from multiple languages. Rich Urdu literature is also available across the globe.
Poets, Philosophers, Sufis, Writers from the past and during contemporary times have all contributed to this rich literature. Poems, stories, poetry verses, stanzas, etc all add beauty to this language.
