COAS on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman
Muscat, 7 May 2023 (TDI): Iran’s military chief arrived in Oman on an official visit, while Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir is also in Oman.
Gen. Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Staff of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, arrived on Sunday on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman which lasted for several days.
Upon arrival, Gen. Syed Asim Munir was received at A’Seeb Airbase by Maj. Gen Mattar Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), several senior RAO officers, the ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, Imran Ali, and the Military Attaché of Pakistan’s embassy at Muscat.

Pakistan and Oman are strategically located, individually and collectively, as maritime neighbors, with their Gwadar and Muscat Ports separated by a mere 202 nautical miles. Both nations are bound for a common future, considering their common history, geography & kinship bonds.

Certainly, this trip of Gen. Asim to Oman will have significant effects on developing cooperation and advancing peace and friendship in the region.
The bilateral visit allows both states to renew contacts among their Armed forces at the highest level and hold a full spectrum dialogue over the existing and prospective mutual cooperation.
Later on Sunday, the Chairman of Iran’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mohammad Bagheri, arrived in the Omani capital Muscat for talks with the country’s military and political officials.
During the stay in Oman, the chairman of Iran’s Joint Chiefs of Staff will hold talks with the high-ranking political officials of the Arab country and its military top brass over bilateral and regional cooperation between the two sides.
Upon their arrival in Muscat, Bagheri, and his entourage were greeted by his Omani counterpart Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Arraisi. Bagheri traveled to Oman upon an invitation by his Omani counterpart, and he is heading a high-ranking military delegation.

Bagheri stated earlier that he will meet with commanders of the armed forces and political officials of Oman and will visit military and scientific centers during his visit to the Persian Gulf sultanate.
Military Chief also stated that regional issues and ways of developing peace, cooperation, security, and tranquility in the region will be discussed in his talks with the officials.
