Rawalpindi, 17 September 2021 (TDI): Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Jawed Bajwa, met United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi at General Headquarters, Rawalpindi. The meeting marked the discussion of regional security, emerging dynamics in Afghanistan, and humanitarian assistance.
According to ISPR, the military’s media wing, Mr. Filippo Grandi appreciated Pakistan for hosting 4 million Afghan refugees for over decades. He also acclaimed Pakistan’s efforts in the current situation in Afghanistan and its provision of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
The Chief of Army Staff lauded the efforts of the United Nations Commission for Refugees in crises. He also reiterated the need for international assistance in averting a humanitarian and economic crisis in Afghanistan.
The visiting dignitary pledged to enhance cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
