Xi’an, 23 May 2024 (TDI): State Councilor Shen Yiqin of China delivered a speech during the inauguration of the 14th China-US Tourism Leadership Summit on Wednesday in Xi’an, a city located in the northwest region of Shaanxi Province, China.

Addressing the 14th China-US Tourism Leadership Summit President Xi Jinping noted that tourism is an important bridge for exchanges and mutual understanding between the people of China and the US.

“We warmly welcome American tourists to travel to China, meet Chinese friends, experience Chinese culture, visit beautiful landscapes, and experience the real China,” Xi said.

Moreover, Shen stated that President Xi’s message clearly shows the significant value placed on China-US relations and the enthusiastic hopes for enhancing cooperation in China-US tourism.

In addition, Shen observed that organizing this summit is a step towards implementing the significant agreement struck by the two leaders during the San Francisco meeting. It will enhance and elevate China-US tourist cooperation, fostering its recovery and development.

China is willing to work with the United States to promote mutual learning between civilizations, expand cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and improve tourism cooperation, he added.

Shen emphasized that China will continue to collaborate with the United States to broaden the scope of exchanges and alliances in areas such as youth, sports, education, and culture.

However, the objective of this commitment is to provide active support for the establishment of strong, stable, and long-lasting connections between the United States and China.

In addition, Shen also stated that China is dedicated to making travel, work, and residency in China easier for foreigners and that it warmly welcomes visitors from all over the world, particularly Americans.
