Dushanbe/Beijing, 18 September 2021 (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping showed deep concern regarding the regional and internal issues raised from the developments in Afghanistan during his remarks on the 21st Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
President Xi suggested three proposals for the settlement of the Afghan issue. He called the international community to play a role in the development of Afghanistan, negotiate with the Afghan side, and continue the provision of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people.
The other members of SCO also backed this proposal on Afghanistan. According to the declaration of SCO, the member states support an inclusive government in Afghanistan that represents all political, religious, and ethnic groups in a fair manner.
