Beijing, 27 October 2021 (TDI): Chinese Premier Li Keqiang attended the 24th China-ASEAN meeting on 26 October 2021. The meeting took place virtually due to the prevailing situation of the Coronavirus.

Leaders of the ASEAN countries, as well as the President and Secretary-General of ASEAN, also participated through video links. The Chinese Premier in the meeting emphasized the will of China to deepen the cooperation with ASEAN member states. He further said that China enjoys good relations with ASEAN and will continue to expand in different fields to strengthen the mutual relationship.
This year they are also celebrating the 30th anniversary of establishing relations between China and ASEAN. In the last 30 years, the two parties have enjoyed sum-sum gains in their cooperation. They have supported multilateralism to deal with the mutual challenges. They have also supported each other to maintain regional stability. China also helped the ASEAN members in the pandemic by providing vaccines to fight against Covid19.
Chinese Premier further stated that China is ready to increase its assistance to ASEAN on anti-pandemic. He also expressed the will of China to create a Science and Technology Center for the public health of the region. Li Keqiang also talked about the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA).
He added that relations with ASEAN have been the priority of China. China will continue to expand its cooperation with its neighbors. He emphasized the peace in the South China Sea. The two parties agreed to cooperate in the South China Sea under the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC). They also talked about the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea to create stability in the region (COC).
ASEAN countries agreed to enhance cooperation with China in the fields of the digital economy, trade and investment, health, public diplomacy, regional peace, climate change, and sustainable development. China will also hold this year summit to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the commencement of bilateral dialogue relations.
