DG Chinese Foreign Ministry's Asian Affairs Department Liu Jinsong meets Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin ul Haq

Beijing, 10 June 2022 (TDI):  Liu Jinsong, the Director-General of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of Asian Affairs, met the Pakistani Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, on June 8, 2022.

Pakistani Ambassador’s Remarks

During the meeting, Ambassador Moin ul Haque praised the strategic partnership that China and Pakistan have always had.

He thanked China for helping Pakistan put out the fire in the Suleiman Mountains of Baluchistan Province so quickly.

According to Ambassador Haque, the new Pakistani Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, recently made a successful trip to China.

This was his first official visit to China as Pakistan’s Foreign Minister. This shows once again the long history of trust and cooperation between Pakistan and China.

Ambassador Haque further added that, during official talks between Foreign Minister Bilawal and State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the two sides came to an important agreement.

The agreement was about how Pakistan and China should work together in the real world. Besides, the two counterparts also released a joint statement.

Pakistan is willing to work with China to make sure that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is aligned and put into place smoothly, to deepen all-around practical cooperation.

Director-General Liu Jinsong’s Remarks

According to Director-General Liu Jinsong, Foreign Minister Bilawal’s visit to China was a great success. Both Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Bilawal held fruitful discussions.

In addition to that, the two sides issued a joint statement with substantive content, which has strengthened the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan as well as their political mutual trust.

According to Liu Jinsong, China and Pakistan’s comprehensive cooperation has yielded fruitful results and enjoys ample space.

Mainly, the Karot Hydropower Plant, the first hydroelectric project under the CPEC, was recently officially connected to the grid and is now producing electricity.

In the same way, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif attended the opening ceremony of the East Bay Expressway of the Gwadar Port and met with Chinese businesses to assist them in resolving their issues. This was all excellent news.

He stated that China places a high priority on Pakistan’s request for assistance in putting out the wildfire.

Authorities started making plans right away, got everyone’s help, set up a video conference as soon as they could, and did everything they could to help Pakistan put out the wildfire.

Shared Future

The two officials reiterated that in the future, China and Pakistan can intensify their disaster prevention and mitigation cooperation.

China is prepared to work with Pakistan to further strengthen practical cooperation, exchanges, and mutual learning across the board.

China is also working to advance the construction of the CPEC in a safe, smooth, and high-quality manner and to build an even more intimate China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
