Belgrade, 30 October 2021 (TDI): The Chinese State Counselor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Serbia.
Chinese Foreign Minister meets Serbian Prime Minister
The Chinese Foreign Minister met with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic on 27 October 2021. He conveyed the greetings of the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to the Serbian Prime Minister. The Chinese Foreign Minister discussed the bilateral relations in the meeting. He emphasized the role of the leaders of the two states in maintaining and strengthening the relations. Wang Yi also talked about the projects being carried out under the cooperation of China and Serbia.
He further stated that with the bilateral cooperation both countries have been equally benefitted. The Chinese Foreign Minister also discussed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with the Serbian Prime Minister. He expressed that the BRI cooperation with Serbia will set an example for the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European states. Wang Yi also underlined inexplicable China-Serbia cooperation in the pandemic. The Chinese Foreign Minister appreciated Serbia for its consistent support for China. In the meeting, they also discussed ways to enhance their cooperation. They stressed increasing cooperation in the fields of BRI, digital economy, trade, green economy, and other fields which can provide sustainable development.
On her part, the Serbian Prime Minister congratulated China on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party. She emphasized bilateral relations. Ana Brnabic admired the policies of China to eradicate poverty. She thanked China for its continuous support in the Coronavirus pandemic. She stressed that cooperating with China is in the long term plans of Serbia. The Serbian Prime Minister termed the China-Serbia cooperation as unbreakable.

During his visit, he also met with the Speaker of the National Assembly Ivica Dacic. The Chinese Foreign Minister congratulated Ivica Dacic on his election as Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia. They emphasized bilateral relations. Wang Yi expressed his gratitude for the Serbian speaker as Ivica Dacic visited China as the Foreign Minister of Serbia when Covid19 hit China. He said that China will never forget the support of Serbia for China in that difficult time. He further stated that China and Serbia should defend the rule of international law.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also urged the Serbian Speaker to increase the cooperation between the legislatures of the countries. It will help to strengthen the relations between the two countries. The two legislatures already have close contact. The two legislatures cooperate in the fields of state governance, national development strategies, and in providing legal and policy support for the bilateral cooperation of the two states.
