Islamabad, 21 March 2022 (TDI): Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi will arrive in Islamabad today to attend the 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The visit of Foreign Minister Wang Yi will last for three days. Whilst in Pakistan, he will also attend the Pakistan Day Parade on March 23 as well as the 48th CFM of OIC. It is pertinent to note that China has cordial ties with the Islamic world and it has played a positive role in its development.
Previously, Pakistan also hosted the 17th OIC Extraordinary Session last year. The theme of that session was to rally support for war-torn Afghanistan and its people in the face of a looming humanitarian crisis after the US withdrawal from the country.
The 17th OIC Extraordinary Session was a resounding success as various resolutions were adopted to aid Afghanistan. A Special Envoy was also assigned to Afghanistan at the conclusion of the summit.
48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold the 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Islamabad, Pakistan. The theme of the 48th CFM is Building Partnerships for Unity, Justice, and Development.
Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of OIC will address the meeting. Aside from the OIC’s post-CFM plans, he will also review the significant activities, programs, as well as projects of the General Secretariat.
The Session will address a plethora of issues afflicting the Islamic countries as well as the activities of the OIC General Secretariat. The agenda of the 48th OIC CFM is to evaluate the implementation of the resolutions adopted by the UN on various matters in the Islamic world.
In addition to that, the issues of Palestine, Kashmir, Yemen, Syria, and Rohingya will be discussed. Moreover, Africa is also at the top of the agenda because of the political instability and conflicts in the continent.
