Beijing, 18 December 2021 (TDI): Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a road of hope for the development of the world.
The Chinese Foreign Minister made these remarks in the meeting of the Advisory Council of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. He attended the meeting virtually on 17 December 2021.

Wang highlighted that this year is the eighth anniversary of the establishment of the BRI. He said that the BRI projects did not stop even in the Coronavirus pandemic. He stated that the BRI is a road of hope for the development of the world.
BRI is not a geopolitical strategy
The Chinese Foreign Minister stressed that the BRI is not a geopolitical strategy. Instead, it is a strategy for the development of the world to achieve the 2030 sustainable development goals. BRI strives for the shared progress and prosperity of the world. It is a road of opportunity for the sustainable development of the world, he added.
He highlighted the benefits achieved by different countries through the BRI. Wang stated that China is committed to economic growth, poverty reduction, job creation, and deepening practical cooperation. He said that China will enhance cooperation with its strategic partners.
Wang stressed that BRI is win-win cooperation. He said that BRI is open for all the world. Every country is welcomed to the multi-billion dollars project, he added. He urged to increase the bilateral, trilateral, and multilateral cooperation mechanisms of the BRI global partnership.
Chinese foreign minister stated that BRI is a road towards poverty alleviation. China will help the world in poverty alleviation by its experience. He emphasized that BRI aims to help the developing countries in their growth and development.
Wang pointed out that BRI is part of the Chinese vision of creating a global shared community based on shared values with a shared future. BRI will enhance interdependence among the states which will create a sense of connectivity among the states. It will reduce the chances of conflicts in the world.
