China to review anti-dumping measures on stainless steel imports

Beijing, 23 July 2024 (TDI): China’s Ministry of Commerce has said that it will begin an expiration review of anti-dumping measures that target stainless steel billets and hot-rolled stainless steel plates and coils imported from the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom (UK), the Republic of Korea (ROK), and Indonesia.

Other countries that will be targeted include Indonesia, the Republic of Korea (ROK), and the United Kingdom. The 23rd of July, 2024 will mark the beginning of this evaluation.

China has implemented anti-dumping charges on stainless steel items that are imported from the European Union, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Indonesia. These tariffs pertain to products that are imported from these countries.

There is a range of 18.1 to 103.1 percent that is included in these tariffs, which will go into effect on July 23, 2019, and will continue to be in effect for five years. In a statement that was made public, the ministry made this information accessible to the public.

The news states that the anti-dumping measures that are intended to ban imports of stainless steel billets, hot-rolled stainless steel plates, and coils from Japan will be terminated on July 23, 2024, which is the day that they will expire. According to the announcement, the anti-dumping measures will be terminated.

In addition to hot-rolled stainless steel plates and coils, stainless steel billets are employed extensively in a wide range of industries. These industries include, but are not limited to, the transportation of products, containers, trains, electric power, petroleum, and petrochemicals.

This is in continuation of China’s measure of imposing anti-dumping duties on stainless steel products originating from Japan, a dispute settlement panel was established in September of 2021.

China began imposing anti-dumping (AD) tariffs on stainless steel products imported from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, and the European Union in July of 2019.

China made this decision on the basis that its local sector was suffering as a result of the dumped imports of these items. The anti-disorder legislation is expected to be in effect for five years.
