Hanoi (TDI): China is set to enhance the steady development of military relations with Vietnam, stated Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, during his visit to Vietnam from Thursday to Saturday.
Zhang engaged in discussions with prominent Vietnamese leaders, including Luong Cuong, president of Vietnam; To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam; and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
To Lam expressed Vietnam’s appreciation for China’s support in its quest for national independence and socialist development, emphasizing that fostering friendly ties with China is a strategic priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to the one-China policy.
Highlighting recent progress in bilateral defense relations, To Lam expressed hopes for deeper practical cooperation, enhanced strategic trust, and a joint effort to address regional challenges, ensuring peace and stability.

Zhang echoed the sentiment of valuing the traditional friendship between the two nations, asserting China’s willingness to collaborate with Vietnam in implementing the key agreements reached by the top leaders of both countries. He underscored the importance of strengthening exchanges in various fields, including politics, economy, security, and culture.
During his visit, Zhang also met with Vietnamese Defense Minister Phan Van Giang, where they discussed international and regional dynamics and witnessed the signing of agreements aimed at reinforcing defense cooperation.
