China Says US, Israel Must Stop Attacks on Iran for De-escalation to Happen

Beijing (TDI): China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, said the responsibility for preventing further escalation lies squarely with Washington and Tel Aviv, as he called for an immediate ceasefire, on Tuesday.

Speaking in a phone call with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, the Chinese FM noted that the the United States and Israel must end military operations to avert further escalation, and to lay ground for a ceasefire.

Wang also voiced Beijing’s opposition to strikes against Gulf states and condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure and non‑combatants.

According to Pakistan’s foreign office, the Chinese foreign minister welcomed Islamabad’s efforts aimed at promoting stability and easing tensions in the region.

Officials say Islamabad is concerned not only about regional security but also about the economic repercussions of the conflict.

Beijing has pressed for an immediate halt to hostilities and a political, diplomatic solution to the crisis, which has now entered its 12th day, while backing Gulf nations’ sovereignty.

In his remarks to Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Wang underscored China’s desire for restored peace and stability and stressed that military escalation violates the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Independent reporting indicates that US and Israeli strikes have deeply damaged civilian infrastructure and caused mounting casualties inside Iran, while Iran has responded with rocket and drone attacks across the Gulf.

Meanwhile, Western and regional leaders differ on how quickly the conflict can be brought to an end. In Berlin, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz acknowledged there is “no joint plan” yet to resolve the war, warning its broader effects could unsettle European energy markets and migration patterns.

Israeli officials say they do not seek “an endless war” and will coordinate with the United States on when to end their operations, though no exact timeline has been provided.
