Beijing, 25 December 2021 (TDI): The Ninth High-level Strategic Dialogue between the Foreign Ministries of China and the Republic of Korea has been held via video link.
China’s Vice Foreign Minister, Le Yucheng, and First Vice Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea (ROK), Jong Kun Choi negotiated with each other in-depth on several issues, including world and regional conditions, respective foreign policies, and China-ROK ties.

By keeping the perpetual prevalence of instability, the uncertain situation of the world in view, both were unanimously agreed that China and ROK should enhance their mutual cooperation against the COVID–19, facilitation and protection for smooth functioning of international industrial and supply chains respectively.
Both sides were agreed to instigate the reinforced cooperation to tackle climate change and various global issues to contribute their cumulative pragmatic and positive role in the global governance system.
Both sides praised each other’s efforts for acquiring the mutual progressive achievements and showed the prospective determination for the development of their states by mutual cooperation and reinforcement through thick and thin.
China’s Le Yucheng congratulated the ROK’s Jong Kun Choi on the country being a developed state and expressed that China is elated to see the constructive role of ROK in the arena of international and regional affairs.
Subsequently, Choi congratulated China for reaching its first centennial objective of establishing a moderately successful society in all aspects. He wished China to sustain its strong growth momentum and to play a vigorous role in advancing global peace, stability, and prosperity. Further, he reiterated that ROK is a strong supporter of China for hosting the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing and wished great success.
Both Ministers expressed their satisfaction with the achievements of China-ROK ties by stating that their bilateral relationships have a strong base, huge potential, and broad horizons.
Both sides decided to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in the coming year as a chance to conduct closer high-level talks, to increase practical cooperation, and to promote dynamic people-to-people contacts in order to move China-ROK relations forward and reach new milestones.
Lastly, both sides discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula and showed unanimous decisiveness for the political resolution of the Korean Peninsula issue. Both sides also exchanged their views on the course of parochial and international issues of their common concerns.
