Beijing, 21 December 2021 (TDI): China puts huge importance on the ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption. The session took place in Egypt from December 13 to 17.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin in the Chinese Foreign Ministry regular press conference on 17 December stated that China upholds the fight against corruption. He said that the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) is the most authoritative step against the anti-corruption fight. He highlighted that the Chinese delegation attended the conference by video link.
China appreciates the UN efforts against corruption
Wang emphasized that China appreciates the UN efforts against corruption. He also highlighted the experience of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in the fight against corruption. China is committed to multilateralism against corruption. It also stands against the cross-border corruption.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that China urges countries to not provide safe haven to corrupt individuals. China supports global governance against the corrupted persons and assets, he added.
He also pointed out that China firmly opposes external interference in the name of corruption in the internal affairs of the other states. He stated that China strongly rejects the creation of ideological divisions in the name of democracy. China also opposes the wrong use of international law in the name fight against the corruption, he added.
Wang noted that China put forward its suggestions for the anticorruption cooperation in the United Nations General Assembly special session on corruption in June 2021. He stated that China upholds the banner of mutual respect for the states. This can help to enhance multilateralism in the world. Multilateralism is the only solution of the global challenges. He said that the world should take concrete actions against corruption.
He emphasized that China is committed to fulfill the obligations of the Convention against corruption. China will be cooperating with the world for the anti-corruption global governance. China will continue to make efforts for building a global community with a shared future, he added.
