Beijing, 3 November 2022 (TDI): Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Keqiang witnessed the signing of the MoUs and agreements between the two countries.

The MoUs and agreements have been signed in different fields of mutual cooperation during a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan was on a historic visit to China following the 20th National Congress. He arrived in Beijing on 1 November 2022 and was received by Wu Jianghad, Assistant Foreign Minister of China.

Earlier, he also met the Chinese President as well at the Great Hall of the People Government office in Beijing. The two discussed bilateral cooperation and issues pertaining to mutual interest.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Ishaq Dar, and other state officials attended the meeting.

The agenda of the visit was to discuss mutual cooperation in all areas of bilateral ties and partnership between Pakistan and China.

Engagement with the Chinese leadership on the revitalization of CPEC and meeting the Chinese investors and Pakistani businessmen in China was also on the agenda of Pakistan’s Prime Minister during the visit.

It was also announced earlier that during the visit, Pakistani leadership will emphasize the importance of 2nd phase of CPEC and consolidate the momentum of CPEC cooperation.

In this vein, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan, Marriyum Aurangzeb reaffirmed the importance of the visit and said that this visit will advance the all-weather strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.

It is pertinent to note here that this was Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s maiden state visit to China after taking charge of the office.
