Beijing, 21 December 2022 (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping said today that China is ready to advance relations with Australia based on mutual respect and win-win principles.
This statement was made on the occasion of China and Australia’s 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
In this regard, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Australian Governor-General David Hurley and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
President Xi’s Congratulatory Messages
In the messages, Xi said since the establishment of diplomatic relations, practical cooperation in various fields has achieved fruitful results. This has brought benefits to the people of China and Australia.
The healthy and stable relations between China and Australia are also promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and the world, he added.

Likewise, Xi reiterated that he attached great importance to the development of China-Australia relations.
In addition, he added that he is ready to work with Australia to take the 50th anniversary as an opportunity, committed to mutual respect and win-win principles.
Furthermore, he talked about promoting the sustainable development of the China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership.
David Hurley said that “This historic decision of 50 years ago paved the way for the bilateral relationship to develop, bringing growth and opportunity to both countries”.
Adding to this, he said “Australia remains committed to a stable and constructive relationship with China, guided by mutual respect and mutual benefit. It also wants to continue the comprehensive strategic partnership with China”.
Chinese Premier dialogue with Australian Prime Minister
On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Albanese also exchanged congratulatory messages.
Li, in his message, expressed his hope that China and Australia will take the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
For his part, Albanese said these ties pave the way for a strong, enduring, and mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries.
Moreover, Albanese said he is continuing to work with China to further develop their comprehensive strategic partnership.
According to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Mao Ning, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong will visit China on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet her for a new round of China-Australia Diplomatic and Strategic Dialogue.
