Afghanistan-China Relations

China and Afghanistan have enjoyed close and friendly relations throughout history. Trade relations between both the Afghan and Chinese regions date back to Han Dynasty.

Both countries have an Embassy in Kabul and Beijing, respectively. During the US-led war in Afghanistan, Chinese political involvement in the country had been limited.

However, the trade relations between the two countries continued to grow, with China being Afghanistan’s largest trading partner.

China is Afghanistan’s largest foreign investor. It has also provided Afghanistan with telecom equipment. China also purchased rare mineral rights, an investment the US supported.
