China becomes the second leading country in the Olympic medal-count

Tokyo: 27 July 2021 (TDI) : China becomes the second leading country in the Olympic medal count as of Tuesday, with the number of 21 medals won at the 2020 Summer Olympics following the USA with 22 medals and followed by Japan with 17.

China has won nine gold medals so far with three in Weightlifting, three in Shooting, two in  Diving, and one in Fencing; five silver medals with one each in Diving, Swimming, Shooting, Table Tennis, and Weightlifting; and seven bronze medals with four in Shooting and one each in Gymnastics, Swimming, and Taekwondo.

China is competing at the 2020 Summer Olympics scheduled to take place from 23 July to 8 August 2021. It is China’s 11th appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in 1952. The country is competing in all sports except baseball (softball), handball, and surfing. The total number of competitors of China in the games is 406 with 125 men and 281 women.
