Phnom Penh, 13 September 2021 (TDI): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on his visit to Cambodia. Chinese FM discussed Covid-19 progress and trade-related issues while the meetings on Sunday with an agreement to provide the Southeast Asian nations included Cambodia with over $272 million in aid.
Discussions on national and international issues along with bilateral trade agreements to battle against Covid-19 took place. Both officials also exchanged views on regional and international security problems and agreed to work in cooperation to make progress in the trade, education, health, and security sectors.
China is one of the biggest investors in Cambodian projects and an important political ally. Its billion-dollar investments in infrastructure, bridges and health departments have assisted to transform Cambodia completely along with various US investments in the country too.
