Burkina Faso received Anti-Covid doses from China

Ouagadougou, 20 September 2021 (TDI): Burkina Faso government has received 400,000 Anti-Covid Sinopharm doses, at the Ouagadougou International Airport on 18 September 2021as promised by the Chinese Government.

Clarisse Mérindol / Ouoba was representing the Government of Burkina Faso as a Delegate Minister for African integration. The Chinese Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Li Jian, handed over the vaccine doses in the ceremony. In the ceremony, there were several authorities, including Barbara Manzi as a United Nations Resident Coordinator in Burkina and Alimata J. Diarra-Nama as a Resident Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Cabinet Director Emmanuel Sorgho played a role as a Minister of Health. The Chinese Ambassador Li Jian marked the ceremony as the act of signing the surrender. Later, by expressing the more than billion CFA Francs worth of the donation, Li Jian also mentioned the strategic cooperation that has been fruitful between them. While elaborating, Clarisse Mérindol / Ouoba also expressed that the aid from China against the pandemic is a gesture of cooperation and partnership between both countries.

Moreover, Clarisse Mérindol / Ouoba added that after making a promise of vaccine donation, China has provided over 990 million vaccines to more than 100 countries, including Burkina Faso.
