Islamabad, 29 September 2023 (TDI): A delegation of the British Members of Parliament called on Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, on September 28.

The delegation involved Sam Tarry MP, Vice Chairman, of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir, Andrew Gwynne MP, Chairman, of Labour Friends of Kashmir UK, and Naz Shah MP, Vice Chairman.

The Foreign Minister appreciated the visiting British Members of Parliament for raising their voice in support of the oppressed Kashmiri people.

Foreign Minister encouraged the group to step up efforts to raise awareness of the ongoing human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on a worldwide scale.

He emphasized the urgent need to end the human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and for the release of all political prisoners.

He also stressed that India should implement the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir so that the Kashmiri people may realize their inherent right to self-determination.

Pakistan is eager to negotiate a peaceful resolution to any differences with India, according to Foreign Minister Jilani.

However, India would have to create a conducive environment for dialogue by reversing its illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The Foreign Minister also lauded the role of the visiting British Members of Parliament in strengthening the bonds of friendship between Pakistan and the United Kingdom (UK).
