Belgian evacuation flight lands from Kabul to Islamabad

Islamabad,  22 August 2021 (TDI): Belgium undertook an evacuation flight from Kabul for Islamabad These evacuation flights were undertaken to provide security to Afghans and a safe haven.

It was the first Belgian C 130 flight that landed in Islamabad. This flight carried more than 80 people on board which included Dutch and Belgians. The second Belgian C 130 carried around 170 people including Belgians and Dutch. These people have safely landed in Islamabad and the Dutch partners for their continued efforts and coordination for the safe evacuation of these people.

Furthermore, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sophie Wilmes had a telephonic conversation with her Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi. She expressed her token of thanks to FM Qureshi for the assistance and facilitation provided by the Pakistani authorities for the Belgian evacuation efforts to pull people out from Kabul. She also expressed the Belgian commitment to continue supporting each other during this complex process.
